Helen Tarnoy appointed as new Managing Director
The Board of Directors of Aldwych Holdings Ltd wishes to announce that the long planned transition in the senior management of the company will commence on 1st July 2010 when Helen Tarnoy will take over the position of Managing Director. Mark Fitzpatrick will stay in a full time Executive Director role to the end of December 2010 to ensure a smooth handover, after which he will move into a part time position, concentrating on business development and field operations. It is the intention for Mark to stay on the Board of the company in his new role.
Helen has worked in Africa since 1998; her experience includes leading the development and successful financing of the Songo-Songo gas to power project in Tanzania and working as Director General of AES Sonel, the integrated power utility in Cameroon. She was a co-founder of Aldwych, the first Commercial Director for the company and appointed Deputy Managing Director in 2007.
Aldwych is a power company formed to develop, own and operate power generation and associated facilities, primarily in sub-Saharan Africa. Under Mark’s leadership, it has established itself as one of the region’s premier independent power companies, having successfully developed several projects from inception through to commercial operation and is well positioned with a number of other quality projects in various stages of development.
Tshepo Mahloele, Chairman of the Board of Aldwych Holdings, said “The Board wishes to thank Mark for his inspirational leadership of the company. We have every confidence in Helen’s ability to step into his shoes and to continue building Aldwych into a leading investor and operator in the African power sector”.
