Rabai succesfully synchronized to the grid.

A major milestone was met recently when the first unit at Rabai was successfully synchronized to the grid on 27 August 2009, some three months ahead of schedule.  Subsequently, the start up and testing of all 5 diesel engine units has proceeded successfully and is now substantially complete.  Therefore, with the expedited completion, Rabai is able to supply power into the Kenyan grid at a time when the country continues to experience acute power shortages owing to the drought affecting the hydro plants.
