Aldwych International unconditionally prequalified by Eskom for baseload tender
On 17 October 2008 Aldwych received notification of unconditional qualification for the Eskom IPP Multi-Site Baseload tender. Eskom wishes to contract with independent power producers (IPPs) for the supply of a minimum of 2100MW and up to 4500MW of baseload power, to be commissioned between 2012 and 2016. The Request for Proposals is expected to be issued by Eskom in February 2009, with a decision taken by the end of the year. Aldwych is uniquely well-positioned to succeed in this tender, by virtue of its operation of the large, coal-fired, Kelvin IPP.
